Medicinal Plants
White Trillium- If the leaves are chewed it can help a snake bite. If petals are chewed it helps calms the process of childbirth. If sepals are chewed it can cure a fever.
Cinchona- The bark is used to make Quinine which helps treat a serious disease
called Malaria
Foxglove- The leaves can help treat heat problems. If a large dose is taken it can
cause dizziness.
How do the plants adapt to their surroundings?
Many of the plants have learnt to adapt to the humid and warm conditions of the Amazon rainforest. They do this by finding sunlight and sucking in all of the water that may be below their roots. The plants on the bottom layer of the rainforest will even climb up the trunks and branches of other trees just to reach the top and find sunlight. This is just one example of how plants adapt to the Amazon Rainforest. Other plants are tall enough to get sunlight but they still might have their own way of surviving.
